Hello guys,
I bought my first gaming pc a few years ago and I feel like games are getting heavier on it. I'd like to change my graphic card for this reason and the fact that it doesn't have a DP plug that goes with my 144Hz monitor. Problem is, I don't know if I can upgrade only my graphic card or if I'll need to upgrade some more components.
Here's my pecs:
Intel Core I5-4570 @ 3.2GHz
Motherboard Asus B85-PLUS
2x4Go DDR3 RAM
Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Tri-X, 3Go.

I'd appreciate any help on this subject. Thank you.

Solution
R9 280X consumes more power than a GTX 1070. But if you have a cheap power supply that is several years old you might want to upgrade it.

You can get a GTX 1060 6GB and it would be a respectable upgrade. But the best improvement would come from a GTX 1070 or even a 1080. Then save towards a new CPU/Mobo/RAM, possibly 8th-gen Intel.
Based on the hardware you gave, your video card is definitely due for an upgrade. The i5 is still a respectable CPU, but it might bottleneck on some newer games in high quality settings. The only red flag you might have is your power supply. How big/how many watts is it? There are a few sites that can calculate what size power supply your system needs given all of its components.

My power supply is 500W.
Which video card do you think could go well with my current hardware ?

It's called the Be Quiet! Pure Power L8 CF, 500W
