So, this problem is affecting my computer over a variety of field. It will occur at random times and maybe happen 1 to 2 times a day and can generally be resolved with a forced shutdown (holding power button).

Problems:

- No sound output

- Videos on any website will render and i can skip through seeing whats on the screen but the video will not play. Videos saved to computer will run through windows media player but will not have any sound.

- Skype does not make any calls out and can not answer calls. Trying to perform one of these actions causes Skype to crash.

- Chrome when restarted will give the error that it could not open properly and all bookmarked thumbnails on toolbar will be blank. Force closing through task manager and reopening fixes error until it is closed again using the top right X.

- Video games like Overwatch and World of Warcraft get a black screen when launching, but Minecraft has no issue and will run properly.

- When attempting to restart or shutdown, windows will go through the normal process of shutting down. Once it has completed the monitors are receiving no signal like in a usual shutdown process. However the fans and lights are still running within the computer, and a hard shutdown is required.

There were to recent changes to computer prior to these crashes. I previously had the Razer Tiamat 7.1 and after it broke I replaced it with a Strix 7.1. The other change is I tried to install the Nvida Cuda drivers, but did not have Visual studios so the install failed. As a precaution I uninstalled anything related to the drivers through control panel. I also decided to uninstall my previous GTX 980 drivers and do a fresh install in case those were effected too.

Solution
go to motherboard makers web site for your model and make sure you have the latest there

run a program like driver booster and use it as a guide to what drivers you need to update. I wouldn't dl anything using it as they don't always suggest the correct drivers - it has got me twice like that and I am not going to fall for it again.

did the razer device have any drivers are are they just speakers? what cables do the speakers use? Analog or USB or digital?

try running the playing audio troubleshooter
(search cortana for troubleshoot, select the control panel option, on next screen select view all from menu on left, pick playing audio from this list. run it a few times as it often asks for restarts)
you might also run the...

you might also run the Hardware & Devices troubleshooter

look in device manager, choose view & click show hidden devices
see what extra devices still have drivers installed. not sure if your speakers would show here. remove any devices you no longer use from the hidden list. Windows 10 might be looking for the speakers still on shut down, I had similar slow shutdown problem when my last set of logitech speakers were dying
