Need help troubleshooting my wife's PC. Out of options!

She has a Asus z-97a motherboard with a i5-4570k, 8GB of Corsair RAM, GTX 760, and I believe a 550W? Watt Corsair PSU.

The Problem: Her computer slows down to the point that she can't play her games comfortably anymore, games like Overwatch that she was able to play perfectly before can't be played anymore. At first I thought she would have a failing HDD or RAM so I ran tests on both, and both passed. I even reinstalled windows 10 on her computer on a spare SSD of mine and it boots faster but slowly goes back to being slow again at times. Another problem is that her sound crackles when playing Youtube videos, it sounds so distorted. I tried updated Realtek drivers but even that doesn't help.

I ran out of ideas, anyone have any clues to what I should try?

Do you possibly have a heat issue?
At idle, your temperatures should be around 10-15c. over ambient.

If you take the case covers off does that help?

Its getting high heat but do you think it would overheat during regular gaming too? That was during Prime95 and Furmark.

It is bothersome that the performance declines over time.
What is going on??

I would not worry too much about damage from heat. The processor is designed to slow down or shut off to protect itself if it detects dangerous heat levels. That is near 100c,

How about the graphics card?

It should be operating near 80c. If it gets too hot, it will slow down also.
Possibly you need to reinstall the drivers directly from the nvidia web site.

It sounds like one of the cores on the cpu may have given out. I have the same problem with my i5-4690K. Try downloading and running the intel diagnostic tool and processor identifier. If that doesn't give you any errors, I'm not sure where to go from there.
