Question need help trying to save friends internet

so my friends brother has something set up to kick him and only him off the internet every night at 11pm. He isnt unplugging the router or anything like that so were not sure how hes doing it. The only thing that loses internet in the house at that time is his laptop. He is connected through ethernet. We tried changing his mac address and his ip and nothing has worked so far. any ideas?

If he is connected the laptop only thru the etherney RJ45 jack, it is so easy to block all traffic from that port on any router( or any managed switch) that is worth a darn. The ports can auto negotiate to link up state with all the blinking light too and it won't matter either. You can change all the MAC address you want it won't matter. This is basic IT management 101.

If you are hell bent on getting around this, your going to have to physically alter the network. Need to slip in a WIFI WAP on some other port, run another ethernet cable to another port, etc. Get into the router/managed switched and change the configuration etc.
