Need help understanding Dolby Virtual Speaker

So I'm probably going to order a Razer Leviathan soon due to me getting some free cash(Sidenote: Yes, I know theres better sound systems out there). So it comes with a 3.5mm auxiliary input as well as optical. My computer doesn't have an optical input so my question is will it use the on board sound card on the speakers to convert my audio even though I'm using an auxiliary.

i would assume both inputs would preform the same.
