Hello all so I have been tasked with setting up a camera at our church and I have run into some issues.

For starters here are some specs: Computer is an HP tower.
Installed memory: 4 GB
Processor AMD Anthlon II x4 640 3.00GHz
Hard Drive: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G844L88/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

SATA Cables: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010WYTJVY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Camera we are using: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicstudiocamera

So included with the camera was a program that tested read write speed. Our SDD that is shown above should be able to read and write above 500mbs however when I run the test the write speed varries between 50-200 and the read between 150-200. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what could be causing this slowdown.

The read Write speeds are just a "benchmark" Depending on the task and quality of the drive is where things change. If your system seems to be running fine, then it would seem to be working correctly.

you can also explore this thread.

you could also get some software to test your SSD

in the end, Benchmarks are not always met. This is normal. Is there quality setting on the Cameras? try lowering quality and see if the write speed goes up

See that is the odd thing, the SSD is brand new, and it is operating at HALF or less of the advertised speed. Sometimes dropping as low as 50 mbs. The lowest I can record on is 720p and even that drops frames sometimes. I reallly feel like there has to be some other issue, this cant be normal.

well with the Evo 850 it is odd to get poor performance. only other thing i can think of.. is what does your motherboard support? Sata wise..

maybe someone else swill shine some light on this lol
