Hello!

I recently tried to update my PC to windows 10 but my hardware did not meet the minimum requirements. This made me realize its time for an update.

I currently have:
-500 watt power supply
-Intel core 2 duo 6400 processor
-Nvidia 7950GT

I'm not only upgrading to get windows 10, I'm going to be running a lot of adobe software as well as getting into some of the newer PC games. The last time I gamed on this PC was in the Call of Duty 1 and 2 WWII games so its a little outdated for gaming.

I've been out of the PC hardware loop for some time now and was looking for a little help on a new graphics card, motherboard and processor. I have a budget of $500(preferably used on new egg) and am looking for a nice upgrade that will last me for some years to come.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I suggest you consider buying a new computer, possibly refurbished. I've had good luck with refurbished items from company web sites and other well known dealers.

What brand of power supply do you have? Most people wouldn't really recommend going with a cheap one since it can fry your whole build if it fails.

As far as staying in the budget it really depends on what sort of games you'd like to play and how much the computer will be used for work.
