My rig is a 1060 6gb, i5-6500, 8gb ddr4 2133 ram, 128 ssd, 2tb hdd, with a motherboard I do not know the name of.
Would it be worth to upgrade to a 6600k with a MSI B150M motherboard for $220 in total ?
I use it mainly for gaming not much else. I also have a Acer 144hz widescreen monitor

Solution
I would say no.

There's not a great deal of difference between the i5-6500 and the i5-6600k. The main advantage of the i5-6600k (overclocking) will be rendered null by the choice of a B150 chipset motherboard. So you can't even overclock it to get more fps. And if you're changing motherboard there's very little point to change components which won't give you an appreciable difference in the experience.

Try using something like HWiNFO to find out what your current motherboard is. Depending on pricing it might be feasible to upgrade to an i7-7700k with an updated BIOS.

I would buy a better gpu, the 1070 is a great overclocking monster and that will get you better fps. Sell the 1060 and grab the 1070. And for about $60 you can throw in another 8gb of ram and youll be good to go.
