Hey everyone, I am looking for some advice on upgrading my current pc build (CPU,RAM,MOBO) any help is appreciated !

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: I would like 2 buy straight away although willing to wait until intel release their new cpus on the 21st august if its worth it.

Budget Range: I think £550 pounds is my limit

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies and the ability to stream some gameplay would be nice

Are you buying a monitor: No, I already have a BenQ xl2430T 144hz

Parts to Upgrade: I'm looking to upgrade my current build (CPU, motherboard and RAM).

Do you need to buy OS: No, I have windows 10 already.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Any

Location: UK

Parts Preferences: Any

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I'm having trouble running games at a decent FPS.

CURRENT PC

CPU: Intel i7-920 Processor 2.67GHz (Overclocked to 4.3GHz)

CPU cooler: Cooler Master - Nepton 240M 76.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Mobo: ASUS P6X58D-E

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1600mhz

Case Corsair - 330R Titanium Edition ATX Mid Tower Case

GPU: MSI - GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3GB GAMING X 3G Video Card

PSU: Antec true power 750w

HD: Sandisk SSD 120 GB

The upgrade I'm looking at getting

CPU: I was looking at the i5 6600k although I decided it would be best to get the i7 7700k as it would only cost an extra 60£.

thanks for the fast reply! Is there any reason behind 16gb over 8gb for gaming? Also is the mobo you picked a better option? if for example I wanted to OC in the future as I seen people run the i7 7700k at 5ghz

No motherboard isnt a better option , you will ok with a 5ghz o/c tho , Reason behind 16gb is because games in the near future ( some in the present) will use more than 8gb .

Sigh why did they add H to Z270? Almost thought it was a 270H What a misleading name.

On the 21 the Coffeelake cpus will eclipse the old lineup, I3 8350K should be a 4 core 4 thread cpu, I5 8600K 6/6, possible some i5 with 4/8, and the I7 8700K is 6/12. Kabylake Pentium is already 2/4 and Celeron stays 2/2.

Z370 is a rebrand of Z270, still hoping there is no socket block (no 1151-v2) and just need cpu microcode bios update for z170 and z270.
