Id say you were wasting money .

Theres no way you need that much grunt to game on a 1440 x 900 screen

Asrock extreme3 (although if you want usb3 in front you will need the extreme4 and a diff case)

That's likely the plan once Christmas rolls around. But I appreciate the feedback from both of you guys. So in this case is it only the graphics card that's unnecessary? I'm a bit new to building comps, so I apologize in advanced for any stupid questions.
