Hello,

I've recently decided to build, or rather upgrade, my system. My current components that I already have are:
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
CPU: Intel i5 4590
PSU: Xilence 600 W PSU
SSD Samsung 850 EVO 120 GB

I'm looking to build it with (components I am yet to buy):
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X Gaming 3
HDD: SEAGATE ST1000VX000 Surveillanace 1 TB or WESTERN DIGITAL Blue WD20EZRZ 2 TB (this choice doesn't really matter that much to me, it can be either)
RAM: KINGSTON Savage 2x8 GB 1866 MHz or KINGSTON HyperX Fury 2x8GB
And these are kind of the limit of my budget.

What I am asking is any advice on the matter, mostly I am worried for any compatibility issues between all these components or whether I would need to upgrade my PSU with these new components. Any help would be appreciated.

[strike]There is no need to go for Z97X motherboard when you don't have a K version of CPU, you can downgrade it to an B or H versions.[/strike]

About HDD, well, like your said, its your choice.

RAM, 8gb is fine and charm for gaming usage.

PSU, i highly recommend to upgrade, seems to be a non trusted one, it can cause failures in the future.

Before doing this, do you already have build a computer and you want to upgrade your mobo/cpu/ram? Or just you have partial components bought and need finishing the build?

I already have a build computer, but my main upgrade is motherboard, since the current one has only two RAM sockets and no SLI support, which I wish to have in the near future.

-No need to get a new motherboard. The 4590 isn't overclockable, so Z97 isn't necessary.

-Western Digital is better than Seagate. Much better quality for a slightly higher price.

- Whats your current RAM?

The only real upgrade would be to get a more powerful GPU. The 970 is great for 1080p though, so don't bother. Save your money instead.

You could get a new PSU however, since that one is probably of bad quality. Get something that will be re-usable in a future system, e.g. a Supernova G2 (10 year warranty =D)

My current RAM is 8 GB (not sure about the manufacturer though).
As I said, my main concerns for motherboard upgrade were to get the SLI support and more RAM sockets, both of which my current motherboard does not have.
Will check out that PSU and lucas_7_94's recommendation.

Seems to be only Z mobos can support SLI 😵 i didn't notice that.
