I want to do some updating to my lovely desktop, as I am still using slow ddr3 ram, and a meh-worthy motherboard. I am curious if anyone can help me pick out some new components to go along with what I have now. Note that, in the future I am totally unsure if I will be running Intel or AMD Ryzen for a cpu, and I know not enough to determine if a board can support both or not.

I also would love to run some nice ram, as my current ram is on the slow side of the spectrum.

Overall, I think I would like to spend maybe $300 USD or less, which will hopefully leave me enough left to purchase a new, prettier case. RBG is pretty, as well.

This is the link to my current build:

Note that the link is probably set to Canadian for CAD currency.

If anyone can make a suggestion it would be greatly appreciated! When the transformers come to Earth, I want this thing to be Megatron

With your current mobo, you can bump up your ram to 2000mhz.

If you plan on upgrading to Intel or Ryzen in the near future, you will have to get a new mobo that supports either of the CPUs.

Note: Your current motherboard is an AM3 socket and will not support either Ryzen or any Intel CPU and vice versa, a mobo that can support Ryzen or Intel CPU will not be able to support an AM3 FX series CPU.

So if you're looking for an upgrade with your current build, I would suggest getting a full ATX mobo and case, so that you can pop in 4 sticks of 2133mhz Ram.
