Hi all. I really need your help! I'm giving my hubby for his birthday present all the components for him to build his gaming pc. I bought a EVGA 04G-P4-3778-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Dual Classified with EVGA ACX Cooler Video Card. He was talking about the new GTX 970 and 980. I need to know if should excange my card for the new GTX 970, if it is better than the GTX 770 I have, specially for GW2.

Thanks!!!!!!

The 970 is cheaper though. Why not save the extra $50 for a better product?

I'd go for the 970 because it will give you good performance in GW2. If you guys decided to play some other games, the 970 is the way to go.

It is also cheaper.

The 970 problems appear to be only a few people using the 970. Not enough to even warrant a fix from the vendor.

I bought a 970, it is awesome :)

I mean it is overkill for gaming. It is a great machine though. If you're happy with the purchases by all means keep them. I just mean for me, a gaming machine, I'd do the following:

1000w PSU isn't needed unless you want to power 3 graphics cards :) A Corsair HX750 would be enough and only costs $110 instead of $145, not a giant difference.
$325 motherboard isn't needed for single graphics card. $150 AsRock Extreme 6 would have been great too!
The RAM isn't needed for gaming. 1600MHZ is great and would save $30.

Oh ok now I know what you meant. I already have all those parts at home. When we choose them I was thinking in him playing any game he wants plus doing SLI in future and stuffs like that.

The build is great like it is, but if I had to chose between 770 and 970, I'd go with the 970.
One thing tho, might not seem important, but i prefer optical mice over laser mice. I recently bought a razer deathadder and love it. If your son is into MMO's, check out the Razer Naga Hex. It's a great product.

Well the build is for my husband and I got him a logitecg G600. My son plays League of Legend and wants a new mouse too, so is the razer naga good for that? Thanks!
