Need Help, USB mouse won't connect

I recently built a computer and am having trouble with the keyboard/mouse connection. I only have one Ps/2 connection and the computer will not recognize USB mouse. Is there any way to fix this without entering the OS? Or is this only fixable through the options of the OS?

try a different port, of a different colour. some ports work on boot, some dont.

ya, try different port, sometime the usb port will not work with your mouse or keyboard...(dont know why)

You are trying to install Windows? If so then I had that problem awhile back, seems like I used the ps2 port for a mouse and use the on-screen keyboard instead of the keyboard. Or somethinmg like that, LOL. Anyway, the USB should start working once Windows loads.

pretty sure it has something to do with the hardware that drives different mouse ports. some requires drivers, some doesnt.
