Hello. I am about to get back into building and it's been a while. Looking for help with component recommendations that will get me the best bang for my buck and will last a while. I am looking to build a video editing/gaming PC with a budget of $1200-1400. I would like extra storage so I can run programs off one SSD and store everything on a separate internal hard drive.

Finally, I'm still very much into physical media and create blue rays and DVDs. I would like to have a case with an internal blu ray drive bay as well. Any help would be appreciated as I've been out of the "parts" game for a while. Thank you for your time.

Hey there,

Now, as mentioned this is just a starting point. It's over budget, but is quality and will excel at 1080p/1440p gaming, and be ample for video editing software.

Some users here are pro's at putting builds together, so hang on for some other builds, that may fall in budget, but be less performant. There's a balance between price/performance.

For example you could change down the GPU to a 3060/3060ti/RX6700XT which would be cheaper, and shave a few quid back. Maybe the ram down from 32gb to 16gb. (IMO 16 is the min for gaming now. There are plenty of games that are pushing past 16gbs system ram usage.

You could also drop down CPU to a 12400/f which is slightly less power hungry, less cores and performance, but still at gaming is a legend.

So there are lotsa tweaks you could make to this build to get back in budget but trade off some performance.

Would you go with an AMD build?
