Sup everyone! I’m going to buy a new pc, so far I got only 1tb hdd and 240gb ssd. Really dont know what cpu to choose. I dont want to overlock cuz I dont know anything about it and its expensive. Also I wanted to use it’s stock cooler. So this makes everything complicated.

My intel build:
GPU: Palit 2070 Super JetStream
CPU: ???
(Maybe i5 8400 or i7 8700?)
(I7 8700 a bit expensive)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B360M DV2
PSU: Corsair TX650M 650W Gold+
Ram: HyperX Fury DDR4, 2x8GB, 2666MHz, CL16
Case: Corsair Spec Delta

If AMD:
GPU: Palit 2070 Super JetStream
CPU: ??? (Ryzen 5 3600 4.2GHz ?)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 S2H
Idk about this, I heard that there is some problem with BIOS so I should go with MSI B450 Tomahawk (but its also so expensive)
PSU: Corsair TX650M 650W Gold+
RAM: 2x8gb 3200MHz CL16 Patriot Viper DDR4 4 Series
Case: Corsair Spec Delta

The goal is to get as max fps as possible. Nothing else only gaming. Game is only and only Fortnite. All setings are low. Im on 240hz G-sync monitor. In start of games you can get 240 fps even on 1060, but in endgames it gives 100 fps. So I want some 140+ endgame.
If you find my builds awful I can save 111$ buying 2060 Super not 2070 Super and invest in the pc.
Country: Latvia
Thanks for reading!

Normally I’d recommend the 3600 as it’s hard to beat price/performance. I’d dismiss the 8400, I know you are interested in one game but the i5’s are being pushed very hard at high FPS in newer games and don’t look to have any headroom for the future.

However as you want max FPS in that 1 game then the 8700 is the best for that. It should also age better than an i5.

  1. If 3600 what about motherboard? I dont have extra cash so i cant buy an expensive motherboard.
  2. If i5 8400 is good for Fortnite then its my choice. Dont card about new games at all. Seems like i5 8400 can run well with 2070Super cuz some fortnite pros bought 8400+1080ti
  3. Is there some difference between i7 8700 and i5 8400 in gaming? I heard no, 6 cores = 6 cores, I dont need these 6 extra threads if I’m right
I cant afford i7 8700 with 2070S only 2060S then
And i5 8400 i7 8700 both are 22 moths old.
