REset the CMOS, it varies on each board, most times you can take out the battery for a time and it will clear, other you set a jumper on the mb, should be in the manual. Need more information, post back and someone with that board can talk you though it.

You'll have to check you mobo site to see if you can use a CD or USB Flash drive. If not, you can a Floppy for about $8 at newegg and probably a bit more locally, they're really inexpensive

thanks for your help ill have a lookon the website how do i go about flashing the bios if nothing is booting will the motherboard just pick up the bios and flash it or is there something else i need to do as well

If everything really is dead you can write the board manufacturer. They will either send you a new chip or let you RMA it.

As to flashing, it is board specific, so check the manual, it will tell you how to.

They say that if something goes wrong during a BIOS, flash it can corrupt/erase the BIOS. If that has happened, I think you would have to get a new BIOS chip from the manufacturer. Without a BIOS, the MB doesn't know how to use a floppy.

Did you also remove the battery? Not sure if this applies to all mobos, but on mine I need to first remove the battery, then switch the jumper for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery...

If you have reset the BIOS, and removed and replaced the battery, and still nothing.......hate to say it, but the board is now dead. You'll have to RMA it. There is not a single thing you can do.

A lot of people say the first thing you should do when you get a new board is flash to the newest BIOS.
In my opinion it's not the best advice.

The only time you need to update your BIOS is if you a have a specific issue that the new BIOS was written to correct. Other than that, updating your BIOS is completely, completely, and I'll say it again, completely pointless. And as many people find out, if you make one little mistake during the flash process, you now have a dead motherboard with no way to revive it.

Good luck, I hope you can get another one quickly without problems.

Although I have never used it, your ASUS board is equipped with what is called ASUS CrashFree BIOS Utility. Look it up in your manual. It is an auto recovery tool that allows you to restore the BIOS file from the MB CD when the BIOS fails or gets corrupted during the update process.

If you get the board back into windows, try this to update the BIOS:

1. Download the correct latest BIOS file to your desktop.

2. Click on start>ASUS Update Tool

3. From the drop down menu in ASUS Update Tool select 'Update BIOS from a file'.

4. Choose the BIOS file you have downloaded on you desktop.

5. The ASUS tool will verify you have the correct BIOS file. Click Flash BIOS. In a few seconds you will the proud owner of a new BIOS. HTH.

Although I agree it is not always a necessity to update the BIOS, I disagree when you say it is completely pointless.
Since BIOS is a piece of software, like all other software it can have flaws and issues. Although everything may work fine, the software can sometimes still be trimmed and corrected, thus perhaps improve stability and compatibility of a i.e. certain device type.
They don't make the BIOS updates just for the fun of it but because there is a reason.

Uh, I think thats exactly what I just said? If you need to update to fix a problem, then yes. If you don't have any problems, then updating is pointless, and many times updating will actually cause new problems you did not have before. I just see so many of these posts where someone was trying to flash a new updated BIOS, for really no reason other than they find out there is new version, and end up with a dead board. A lot of people who end up in this predicament seem to be surprised when suddenly their PC is blank and lifeless. They should not be, they should understand that a srewup during flashing will most likely send their motherboard straight to the graveyard in the blink of an eye. But no one ever mentions any of this when they suggest a BIOS update.

I just think it needs to be pointed out more often when people recommend flashing a new update, like everything else you tweak on your system, and even more-so, you have to very careful. A simple glitch and you are screwed.

I may not have been very clear of what I meant then - my point was that sometimes corrections can be made to address problems you may not know is there even when things appear stabile.
Release notes are not always mentioning every change/fix, sometimes just the most serious or noticably.

tried everything again still nothing im thinking the worst :( but i was just wondering if it was at all possible to buy another bios chip? Can you do that it looks like the bios can easily be taken out, im presuming with the right tool but can you purcase the actual bios

I don't think you can purchase a new BIOS off of the internet, but I believe if you send an email/call Asus tech support they will send you a new one or tell you how to fix it (or just waste your time). The two times I asked them questions, they were a little slow, but very helpful. Their RMAing process was very quick for me too.
