There's the Sapphire R9 270X 4GB OC Version at $200 -$20 rebate

The XFX R9 280 at $190

The XFX R9 280X at $226 -$30 rebate

Which should I get? I'm leaning towards the 280... Is the 280x worth the extra money or will they both get me similar performance?

So the 280x costs 196$? I thougt you had factored in the rebate. The 280x is definitely much better. From what I have seen from gaming benchmarks the 280x usually gets about 10-15fps more than the 960 depending on the game. In Witcher 3 for...

I accidentally clicked on best answer, smh... The 280 and 280X use the same dual cooling technology... Also, what about the GTX 960? Same price range, but I'm a bit worried about the whole 128 bit thing, seeing as the 270X has 256 bit and the other two 384 bit... Also, Sapphire has 4GB of VRAM, the two XFX's have 3GB, but the 960 only has 2GB, which I've seen hasnt worked too well for games like GTA V, although the CUDA cores do seem like they could help with programs like Premiere Pro

From what I have seen from gaming benchmarks the 280x usually gets about 10-15fps more than the 960 depending on the game. In Witcher 3 for example there is barely any difference at all between them. But in games like BF4 and dying light the 280x performs noticeably better than the 960. So if you are primarily using your rig for gaming, go for the 280x, as it will last longer due to the higher memory bandwidth. If you are rendering and using programs that take advantage of CUDA cores, go for the 960.
