did you run command prompt with admin rights?
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-other_settings/solved-cannot-startenable-software-protection/6e71bf01-9dc6-43a2-8139-633c4d306769?auth=1

did you talk to Microsoft or just look on google?

You have to do that with administrative account. Regular user account has no access to starting/stopping services.
Also - some antivirus might be preventing it.

And no - it doesn't mean anything about being hacked. Software Protection service is normally being run by Network Service account.

you don't have users but windows does, SYSTEM & Trustedinstaller, and its the 2nd of those that owns sppsvc.

See if the advice here can fix your problem - https://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-could-not-start-the-software-protection-service-on-local-computer

i don't normally recommend removing access from trustedintsller but if it works, and doesn't break windows, its worth it?
tried that and the article still getting access denied

im going to have this watermark forever
