Hello,
So last week we had a big storm and my house was hit by a power surge and it looks like it killed my motherboards Ethernet port. It's a MSI gaming 5 motherboard I've seen where a lot of people have had trouble with the Ethernet port on this motherboard, and it sounds like the problem is being caused by the Killer E2200 networking. The port doesn't show up in the network adapters list at all and under device manager it's listed as unknown device and says it needs drivers which will never install. I've tried to fix it by downloading the drivers from the MSI website and loading them onto the PC by usb. I've tried uninstalling the Killer Network program and then installing just the drivers they still wouldn't install. I checked BIOS and LAN is enabled. I checked the cable, I cleared the CMOS I even flashed the BIOS nothing worked. So unless someone can give me some other ideas I need a new wired internet card.

So I need some help choosing the correct card for my motherboard it needs to be a wired connection. I've never had to purchase a card before so I'm confused on which type, brand and how it connects to the motherboard. I'm guessing it's a PCI card but I don't know if it's PCI Express or PCI 2.0 or PCI 3.0 or if it even matters. So if anyone who knows what I should get to work with this motherboard I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your help and your time.

I don't know wether this helps but i also have a similar main board and suffered the same circumstances as yourself. On inspection i found that my e2200 killer chip had actually got a burn hole in it indicating the chip had blown. I just installed a pci express nic card to get over this problem, not ideal but it does work.
I forgot to mention my Mainboard is an MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming.
