I currently have an fx 8320 at 4.2ghz and I have £320 to spend on my pc.
I have the 8320
R9 290 windforce
8gb of crappy ram
120gb ssd
1tb HDD
GA-990XA motherboard.
I'm wondering if I should maybe sell the ram and get 8gb of corsair vengeance, sell the CPU and Motherboard and replace them with a i5 4670k and an asus Z87-K motherboard. Is this a reasonable choice or should I spend it on other things? Thanks in advance.

You can spend all that money, & get very little/ noticeably difference in performance, best to worst memory is only a few percent difference.
While I think an i5 is better (at least in games) again the difference is minimal, if you do video editing, The 8320 may have an edge, best performance gain? If you don't, over clock your processor (make sure you have an aftermarket cooler - doesn't need to be expensive, something like the coolmaster
hyper 212 EVO is fne)

I've got it at 4.2 ghz stable at 50°c with the 212 evo could it go any further? Also what else could i spend the money on. Would an i7 4770k make any difference?

While Every processor is different, some people have gone higher, up to 5.0 with watercooling. 4.5ish could be reachable.
If gaming, In Intel's line an I7 isn't sa huge gain on an I5. You would also need a new MOBO & re-install of your OS (as long as it's retail)
Performance wise, your in that area of diminishing returns, unless you are suffering performance issues.

Would the only thing I should do be to maybe change the ram and get the CPU over clocked more and save the rest until new CPUs come out? Also what is the highest temp the 8320 can be at? Thanks

I'm currently running an earlier version of that (always had good luck with them)
While I have mixed Corsair & others, I'm generally careful about mixing memories MFG's.
Even if speeds are the same, sometimes Timings/Latency can cause 'issues'

It seems to be very popular and is compatible with my motherboard I'll probably just get 8gb of that and if I need 16 I'll just buy another lot and save the rest for a new cpu when more come out.
