I just replaced (and cloned) my old 1TB hard drive with a new 4TB hard drive and now when I boot up windows (from my SSD boot drive which hasn't been changed in any way btw) after logging in I'm greeted by a black screen with only a mouse cursor and the ability to ctrl-alt-del. The first time this happened, a window popped up saying "please insert the D: drive" (or something along those lines) and so after restarting a couple of times, I did and now I'm here writing this forum post.

So my question is this: How do I get this to work with only the new hard drive plugged in?
My old 1TB hard drive is the D: drive btw and I named the new 4TB one drive U:. It wouldn't be something as simple as changing the letters would it?

Solution
This old drive was just a secondary drive?
If so, then yes....just change the drive letter to D.

If it was the OS drive, you have bigger issues.

Yep, you (and me I guess) were right. I temporarily renamed the old D: drive to a new letter and renamed my new drive to drive D: and shut down, unplugged the old drive, and started up. Everything seems to be in order now. Thanks for the quick reply.
