I had recently just built my first computer and made sure it was powerful enough to run the latest games out there. The computer was fine when surfing the internet and opening applications like Photoshop. But when I ran games like Mass Effect 2 and Diablo 3 the Monitor started to cut out and then eventually froze. Then Windows continues to tell me that there is a problem with the Nvidia display driver. Before this though I had updated a lot of the driver software associated with the card from Nvidia site.
So I took it in to have it looked at, and the guy tells me that he believes the power supply isn't enough for my components, or more specifically isn't enough for the card when running games like the ones mentioned above. Here are the specs:
Power Supply: COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M2 720w
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz Quad-Core
CPU Fan: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD4H LGA 1155 Intel Z77
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB 192-bit GDDR5
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3
Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 922
The main reason I'm asking for more opinions on this is because he thought the second cause could be the video card not working properly. He said I should return it for a new one and try it out with the power supply. But I don't want to go through that effort if it is the power supply that is the culprit. So I guess the big question is, Is my Power Supply sufficient for what I'm doing?
