Hi,

I've recently dismantled my Asus eee pc 1001pxd in order to replace the screen ribbon. Ribbon was replaced successfully and screen is good as new now!

Only problem is that now I have hard-drive detection issues. Here's what happened:
1) I reassemble the notebook, boot up => windows 7 boots normally.
2) I reboot again to validate keyboard, touchpad etc.. are ok => but wait, audio device is not detected! Windows claims a driver error. I shut it down.
3) I dismantle the notebook again, wondering if I accidentally messed one of the cables => Everything looks ok.

So now I can't even boot anymore! In safe mode the failure happens when loading classpnp.sys. Windows system restore fails consistently (asus system restores (F9) also fails). PartedMagic (USB boot) cannot detect the hard-drive. But I can see the hard-drive is there in the bios menu (F2). I hooked the hard-drive into another computer, it seems fine (no disk errors, all partitions and data are there). So I bought a new hard-drive : all same issues (PartedMagic can't detect the new hard-drive either).

So I'm running out of ideas here and could really use your help. It seems like I must have broken something while reassembling my notebook. But any idea what component it could be?

Thanks for reading. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

After further investigations, I figured out what the problem was.
The faulty component was the cable linking the audio/usb board to the motherboard.

As I found out, this cable is extremely fragile and should be handled with care.

Thanks.
