Hey I am looking for build suggestions for a desktop to run piosolver, pokertracker4, and multi table online poker. Piosolver won’t be running while I play but I’d like to be able to multi table 8+ tables with pokertracker hud while listening to Pandora, watching Netflix, and keeping 57 browser tabs open all at the same time without hiccup lol. I don’t video game but will be hooked up via hdmi to

I‘ve been an AMD fanboy since I built my first gaming rig 18 years ago. AMD always seemed the budget option. This will be my 4th build. I’m not opposed to Intel but AMD seems the better tech at the moment. That said I’m leaning AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT.

Budget is $750ish

I think I want:
Small ssd (I don’t save much)
micro ATX case
Wifi on motherboard
Bluetooth on mobo

I already have:
Mouse
Keyboard
Monitor
Windows 10
500 watt power supply (might be enough)
video card sapphire Radeon 260x (might be enough)

Many thanks!!

If micro atx cases or motherboards are more expensive than mid sized then I’d rather save the money.
Doesnt work like that. They are priced based on their quality and features.

I’d like at least 2x16gb ram. Eventually more so mobo capacity should be at least 64gb.
RAM increased, most b550/x570 boards has 128gb capacity including yours.

I’d like pcie 4.0 but am unclear which AMD processors would have two of these to use both with the gpu and ssd. If I only can hookup one to pcie 4.0 should I choose the ssd?
PCIe 4 depends on the motherboard chipset and not on the processor. You can hookup both GPU and SSD together, but most current devices do not use that much bandwidth.

Should I upgrade my current video card...
This will work...

I’m uncertain if I posted this in the correct sub-forum. If this should be in the systems forums please move.

I’m looking to build by the end of the week because my current computer is dead. Here are some more questions and needs I have. Also, thank you hellfire for your reply!

Should I upgrade my current video card? What would be a good performance jump from my sapphire Radeon 260x for around $150?

Which processor would be better for my purposes and why? Ryzen 5 3600xt or Ryzen 7 3700x? Any sense in saving my money and just getting a 3600 or 3600x for $159?

Your mentioned activities are not very graphic intensive. The 260x should be able to do the job fine for now.

You can get any of those processors but the more cores you have, the longer it will last and the more it can multitask.

Here is the updated list...
