Sell your existing components besides the PSU and build new. The net cost will probably be around $1,000 CAD. I looked at an i7-7700K, RTX 2070 and 16GB RAM upgrade. The gross cost of the Intel upgrade is a little lower but I think the net cost after component sale will be about the same or a little lower with Ryzen. Plus you will have a new motherboard with tech updates, new and faster CPU, future CPU upgrade path plus a new and superior heatsink.

$1,000 will get you just an i7-7700K and RTX 2060. If you must keep it under $1,000 without considering the resale value of current parts. I'd suggest 16GB of RAM and an RTX 2070. Although an i5-6500 isn't enough to keep an RTX 2070 fed in many games. You can then save for a grossly overpriced i7-7700K or wait for Ryzen 3.

Just out of curiosity, is there anything that i could upgrade that would hit my socket type of my motherboard now and be able to spend more on the GPU?

If you could find a 6700(K) or 7700(K) for cheap then that would be something to consider as you could drop either into the socket and not have to worry about reinstalling Windows. For the 7th gen CPU's you may need to do a BIOS update on the motherboard.

There is the i7-7700K. But it is grossly overpriced. It costs more than a Ryzen 2600 plus a really good X470 motherboard.
