Hi, this is my first time I am building a PC. I would really appreciate your help in this.
So far, this is my list:
Motherboard: MSI Z87 MPower MAXhttp:// ($199.99)
Graphics Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 ($329.99)
HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB ($70.31)
Processor: Intel I7 4790 ($249.99)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W ($44.64)
Case: Carbide Series SPEC-01 Red LED + CD/DVD ($75)
RAM : Corsair Vengeance 8GB ($89.99)
Monitor: HP V242h 24" LED Backlit 1920x1080 16:9 ($139.99)

About the sound card, I have an old one. It's from 2005. It says Creative Labs Model #: SB0460. I googled it and it says Sound Blaster X-Fi and according to my dad, it's one of the best Sound Cards of 2005 but I am not sure if it'll fit in the motherboard I want...
Also, I am not sure about the processor, RAM and Graphics Card. Is it ok? I have a maximum of $1060 dollars but I can stretch it a couple hundreds more.
I repeat, I have no clue of what I am doing. I am being helped by a friend but I am not sure!!!

Thank you!

the 4790K might be worth it so that down the road when it is older you can OC to make up for that and go a bit longer before upgrading. it will work on both boards. it would appear that SLI will not work on the second board (but it still is a pretty goo board). the 750 watt PSU is great if you want to SLI, but if you do not plan to any time soon then the other is fine.
that is a great motherboard, but it is a generation back, a good one would be a Z97 board, also that is a world record OC board, and as you have a 4790 non K you will not be able to OC. I would recommend a beefier power supply so that you can SLI down the road, perhaps 750 watts. I am not so good with sound cards, but that card should fit, as sound technology does not change that much, that is still probably a great card, if nothing else, just don't use it, you do not need a sound card. I'll go find a motherboard for you.

Hi Robert,
I am not intending to do overclock. It is for games and maybe video editing. Let me see if I understood. The first motherboard you linked is a good one to allow Scalable Link Interface? And the second is a cheaper option and still good but it does not offer the chance of placing two graphics cards.
I am not sure if the 20 dollars difference between 4790 and the 4790K is worth for those extra 0.4GHz and a chance of overclocking... Also, even though I am not planning on using SLI if I get the first one you recommended. Should I get 750W supply? And the 4790K is only compatible with the first motherboard or also the second? Sorry for asking so much, I am new to this kind of stuff!

Thank you very much for your reply!

Ok then! Thanks for the info!!! I will go for the 4970K, the second board and the 500W PSU!
I am so happy now! I've been investigating for a month trying to understand the differences and you solved my doubts in one day.
once again, thank you very much!!! 😀
