Need help with compatible processors for 1155.

I've been looking into buying a cheap desktop and upgrading it. Since I'm on a low budget here's one I found: it's a bytespeed desktop with Intel core i5-2400, 3.10 GHz, 4gb ram and 250 hdd. I'm not sure whether to replace the motherboard to upgrade the cpu as its a 1155 socket. Or leave as is. The only other cpu in the 1155 range is an i7 2700k I'm pretty sure. Which is not a whole lot better. Do modern cpu's like lga1151 ones work or not? I'm unsure pls help.

No, an 1151 will not work in a 1155 socket. It won't even fit.

That i7-2700 is the best that will work.
