Need help with connection problem

So basically when I turn on my newly built PC it turns on and everything seems to be working just fine but I don't get a signal from my Pc to my monitor if you could give me some advice that would really be greatly appreciated.

If you have a video card, make sure you connect the dvi, display port, or hdmi cable to it, and not the motherboard connector. Oh ya, make sure it is connected to the monitor too. I know this sounds kind of silly but some people do these things.
