Need help with cpu specs, im new to pc, thank you

Okay guys these are my specs , intel(R)core i7 2600 cpu @3.40GHz -3.70GHz , ram is 8.00 gb,system type= windows 7 ultimate 64bit operating system(6.1 build 7600) , internal hard disk =1 .0 tb western digital , cooler master fan, chip type ati display adapter , graphics card= ati radeon hd 5400 series, graphics memory 4083 mb
Please tell me if these specs are any good for gaming , im new to pc, and i have no idea about any of this , thank you

The i7 2600 CPU is rather old by now. Yes it will work for gaming, but please look at third gen, fourth gen CPUs before you finalize the build. "pcpartpicker" is a great tool to use for a new build.

The first thing I would do is upgrade the video card and see how things run for you. Then, if unhappy with the results, start upgrading the rest. While old, that CPU is still a rather good one and, depending on the games you want to play and at what settings, may still serve you well for a while yet.

Edit: And I say this because my bother-in-law has that exact same CPU and is playing games like Ark: Survival Evolved and Fallout 4 at fairly high settings with it paired with a R9 290.

Agree with the above posters.

The processor (Intel Core I5-2600) is out-dated, but still sufficient for moderate gaming.
The graphics card (AMD Radeon HD5400 series) is an out-dated, low-end card and I would recommend replacing it.
The power supply (unknown) would likely need to be replaced in order to utilize a newer and better graphics card.

I would recommend a starting budget of at least $150 (2/3 graphics, 1/3 psu) for this system's upgrades.
