Need help with cpu

So I bought a i3-7300 & bought a gigabyte H310MA mobo, that apparently supports 8th gen processors. Do 7th & 8th gen processors have the same chipset? & is my mobo compatible with my cpu?

no the native chipset for the 7 series CPU is the 2xx series (1xx series with the proper BIOS), the 3 series is native for the 8th gen CPU (9th with the proper BIOS).

That board only supports 8th and 9th Generation CPU's.
Your i3 7300 isn't compatible. Same 1151 chipset but different in terms of motherboard support.
