Need help with dual monitor audio setup

I have a GPU (GeForce GTX 960) with a Asus Maximus VIII Hero motherboard and dual VG248 Asus Monitors. Both are connected to my GPU with displayports. I also have aux cables and a splitter readily available. The goal is to get audio out of both monitors. It seems the displayport in one of my monitors is giving off audio but not the other. Any help would be much appreciated.

When this is done, it only plays through the monitor in the playback tab, not the recording tab

When I set one monitor to play through the playback tab, and one to play through the recording tab like that thread you attached said to, the recording tab monitor doesn't play sound still.
