Hey guys,

My GPU died and I am looking to buy a new one. I mostly play games from pre-2020 (no Cyberpunk or anything like that yet).
However, I also am planning to upgrade my 1080p 60hz monitor to a 1440p 144hz.

I managed to find these prices, wish one would you recommend as a good buy?

RTX 2060 : 600 $
RTX 3060 : 750 $
RX 6600 XT : 710 $

PS: (for some reason the AMD card card is either unavailable or when I do manage to find it the price varies alot, what do you think is a good upper limit for this card compared to Nvidia in my area?)

Cheers!

My vote is the 3060. It’s 20-25% faster than the 2060 and supports DLSS which the 6600XT does not. With this level of gpu and wanting to move to 1440p 144Hz DLSS will be very beneficial in the games that support it

Hello,
Happy new year,
I would not go for 2060, real decision is between 3060 and 6600-xt, and between them i will advice to get due to manufacturer and what you are going to do on your PC :)
If for gaiming just go for better manufacturer.

Yes this PC will be mainly for gaming.
Why would you advice against the 2060? Is it because the price is not that good or the card will is on the old side?

Yes for me 20x series was really horrible upgrade tbh, comparing same cards from 10x and from 20x was really low difference and the price was much more, so while you have choice to go for 30x or new AMD series my recommendations will to go for em instead of 20x, or just wait for 40x :))

Just throwing my two cents in~

I personally would advise the RTX 3060 for DLSS 2.0, 12GB of VRAM which will help get more life out of the card, the built-in encoders/decoders and the fact that it's Nvidia which has the best compatibility across different titles. Just curious, where did you find these prices? I'm seeing 6600 XTs for sale right now from major retailers for considerably less.

I personally couldn't fathom paying $750 for a RTX 3060 since I saw the Gigabyte Aorus Elite 3060 for $519 at my local MC.

Get the best you can actually get with a justified expense.

The 6600xt generally falls somewhere between a 3060 and 3060ti, depending on the game. So if the price is jumping around and falls Under a 3060, grab it. If it's still higher, but the Ti falls to the same level, grab that instead, if it's a good price. None of the 3 cards will be bad, my 2070Super goes head to head with all 3 depending on the game, but for the most part your exact fps will be cpu dependant, not gpu limited.
