I recently added another Graphics card to my PC, and realized I needed better cord management. SO without thinking i moved my HDD sata from sata port 1 or 2 (cant remember) to sata port 5. So, I started up my PC and kept getting classpnp.sys error message. Now after moving the HDD sata back to port 1 and 2, and restarting my PC, now, it doesn't even start windows. It just sits at a black screen. HELP!!

Have you head any Windows updates lately as well?

This error often occurs when crucial software changes have been made to the OS. It may be the registry is corrupted, it might also be a system file or a driver missing or damaged.
Another thing you could try is changing the SATA mode in the BIOS, if it's IDE - change to AHCI and vice versa.
Afterwards restart the computer, and see if it helps.
If that doesn't help change the SATA controller Mode from AHCI to Compatibility and restart again, check if that will change anything.
Also I'd try unplugging everything external from the SATA ports, except the HDDs.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure you can trick the OS into thinking anything. 🙁
However, you could try plugging that drive into...
Hey there, HELLSTAXI!

I'd suggest resetting the BIOS and look for any updates on the motherboard on their website.
Here are 3 ways how to reset it: http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS
This is a recommended action after any hardware change you've made on your system.
You can simply reset the CMOS battery that powers the BIOS memory.
Also I'd check the SATA connections again, some cable might have gone loose.

I hope this works for you! Keep me posted though! :)

Reset the cmos manually. Shows up on monitor again, but still doesn't boot windows... Let me clarify, I moved the Sata connector to a different port and it recognized my Hard drive as a New Hard drive and basically it wants me to Format the hard drive, which i have 500Gb worth of irreplaceable stuff on it.

HELLSTAXI,

Here's something you could try, you just need to put the Windows installation disk and open the System Recovery options, afterwards perform this scanning procedure and let me know what are the results:

If your HDD shows up in the list volumes as RAW, you could check out this thread for ideas how to save your data:

Keep me posted! :)

Okay, would it be easier to somehow backup those files somehow, and just reinstall windows? Like, even if it wants me to format it because it thinks its a newly introduced hard drive. Is there a way to back up the hard drive even if windows gets stuck on classpnp.sys on startup? Or is there a way to trick windows into not thinking the hard drive is new?

However, you could try plugging that drive into another computer and backing it up there. Check if it accessible there, then you can simply backup the data on that other computer and re-format the drive even.

Hope this helps you though! Good luck!

Some operating systems do not configure themselves to load the AHCI driver upon boot if the SATA-drive controller was not in AHCI mode at the time of installation. Especially when Windows is installed, it automatically disables unused storage drivers to speed up the startup process. I'm glad it worked for you! :)
Good luck and happy computing! :bounce:
