So for my internet plan I have TWC at 15 mbps download and 1 mbps upload. Now everyday for like the past week and a half I have been getting 2 mbps download and 1 mbps upload. I called up TWC about 5 days ago and they told me to clear my browsing history, I did and by the time I did that my speed had gone back up to what I was paying for. Next day boom it was back to really really slow. I had to stop gaming because I could not do anything. Is this something on my end that is causing it to go slow? Btw I have a surfboard modem, not the newest but it has had no issues since we got it which was like 4 years ago, I also have a lynksys e1000 router. TWC told me I should call up linksys, but I never did because I think its something to do with them. Also I was wondering how to add certain programs to QoS because my sister watches netflix like 24/7 and thats when i get high ping. But mainly I just want my internet fixed. This is really long sorry

You can check...
You answered your own question. "Watches Netlix and that is when I get high ping". Streaming and downloading will eat up as much bandwidth as they can.

Check for updated firmware for the router although in your case you may want to replace the router with a better model. First thing that comes up for this model is "Cisco Linksys E1000 Wireless-N Router is cheap and about as basic as a router can get, ". A better router may handle the streaming better.

So pretty much if I get a better router with more bandwith then more people can be on it at a time? And I meant when my download speed is normal and someone is watching netflix thats when it get slow. But most of the time my download speed is really low.

You can check with your system only on the modem. If that runs fine, the issue is outside of the ISP equipment. I'd replace the router either way as it's older and was not very good to begin with. If you have people streaming and playing games, it can be tough. I have a pretty nice Netgear 300 router and when there is someone watching a movie and I'm downloading something, my son complains about his online games lagging. My speed is about what yours is.

Once you test things with the computer dirctly on the modem for a while bypassing the router, you can go from there. Or just spend the money and upgrade the router, even if it does not fix the issue, you would have gotten a better router and can then check the modem and ISP connection.
