Need help with laptop cmos battery!!

I was wondering if a cmos battery can be the cause of a laptop not booting up to windows? I DID get a message telling my my cmos battery had failed and needed to be replaced, but I was wondering if this will fix the problem of my laptop not booting up windows? I went out a bought a cmos battery from walmart, getting ready to take apart my laptop now to replace it.
Also can someone help me with how to change the battery?
My laptop is a toshiba satellite L655! Thanks 😛

Is the laptop posting? I've seen certain computers that don't turn on at all without the CMOS battery, but they are really rare. All a dead CMOS battery would do is that the date and time won't be remembered and all your BIOS settings are reset to the default. It shouldn't prevent windows from booting. For the replacement all you should have to do is take off the bottom plate of your laptop, find the little button cell battery, pop it out and pop the new one in.

I turn the laptop on it acts like it is booting up windows saying loading files/windows and all of that, then it looks about like it reboots and starts all over... never actually booting up windows. It's kinda I guess like a boot loop, I looked up how to fix a boot loop but nothing worked, I don't have an option to factory reset (the menu doesn't even come up) I tried doing start up repair (that took forever and didn't even do anything.
I really don't know what to do, the only hint my laptop has given me is that my cmos battery failed, and I only got that message once. When I try to start windows normally, it acts as if its loading, flashes a blue screen with text on it but it happens so fast I don't get a chance to make out what it says, then shuts off and tries to reboot. It's becoming so frustrating. Any tips?

Try booting into safe mode. When you turn your computer on just start pressing F8. It should take you to a menu where it asks you if you want to boot into safe mode.
