Hey, so today I tried to connect a second monitor to my pc, but the monitor just said "Check signal cable." I have no idea how to fix it.

My specs:
CPU:AMD FX 8350
COOLER: hyper 212 evo
GPU:AMD ASUS MATRIX PLATINUM R9 280X
PSU:CORSAIR CX750
MOBO:ASUS M97
RAM:CORSAIR VENGEANCE 8GB
CASE:CM STORM ENFORCER
STORAGE: 120 GB SAMSUNG 840 EVO WDD BLUE 1TB

Solution
It should show up immediately, no install or instruction required for basic usage. I use 4 monitors ( only monitors 3 and 4 have active adapters )+ a TV on an old 6950. Try swapping your cables. You either have a bad cable or you are not on the correct input on your second monitor. Assuming you have AMD's newest driver, the control panel will allow you to make many adjustments, like which monitor you want to specify as your "desktop", but it should be instant on. About a year ago I remember reading on AMD's release notes that you can now "hot plug" any monitors at any time without a re-boot and the driver will instantly recognize and re-configure for up to 6 monitor set-ups. Only "Eyefinity" requires a special configuration...
I believe you will find the answer to your problem in your video card applet in your control panel. I am an nvidia diehard but I'm sure there is a setting in amd's software to tell it you want to run dual monitors

Only "Eyefinity" requires a special configuration. Standard extended desktops do not require any special setup, except that you may want to change the relative position of the screen, they may be backwards and your mouse will not flow from full left to full right and as mentioned the choice of desktop, indicating where games will be played and the taskbar will be located, although even that can be dragged to the other screen if you prefer.
