Need help with my AMD based gaming PC and BIOS settings please

Hello, I could do with some help on the setting up my computer as it seems I might have set it completely wrong for gaming.
I play all sorts of games from high demanding games like battlefield and crysis and Arma to indie games. And Im constantly getting bad performance and crashes.
Ill list my specs:

AMD 8150 8-Core O.C @ 4.2
Noctua NH-D14-2011 Dual Radiator Cooler
ASUS Crosshair Formula V
Kingston 16GB DDR3 1866MHz HyperX Genesis XMP Memory
XFX 7970 3GB Black Edition Flashed 2nd Bios to Official Ghz Edition
Coolermaster GX 750w PSU
Xi-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Sound card
OCZ 240gb Agility 3
2 TB Storage HDD`s
A shed load of fans and a coolermaster HAF case.

So yeah, I basically get quite poor performance in a lot of games ranging from what ive listed to medium performance games like Sleeping Dogs, and a few crashes after playing Battlefield.

I`d really appreciate if someone could help me out with basic BIOS settings and RAM timings for my setup, and any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Can you give us you details about you O.C, I am pretty sure the crashing comes from there,
How many screens are you using ?
Have you tried to run the games without oc and with lower settings to see if you get the crashes.

Dram timings: 10,12,11,28,6,6,6,8,14,300ns,46,9,6,6,6,Every 7.8ms, Command rate: 2T

Ive built this PC from scratch, And had it fully built for at least 6 months, been tinkering around with settings trying to get better performance because I usually get quite disappointed. Especially seeing as it cost so much. If someone would provide me the right settings and the right timings for my RAM, that actually made a difference.. I think Id have to reward that with maybe Alan Wake for steam

You should go to Auto on the memory.
XMP profiles are Intel specific, they are not optimized for AMD. You can set the main settings such as 9-9-9-27-36 and voltage. But the secondary setting should be left at default. This might get you back to 1t settings.
Also set the cpu voltage. Most boards WAY overvolt when set to auto.

CPU voltage goes up to 1.39 on full load, I set it this way as my PC is on most of the day sometimes just browsin internet or watchin stuff. If I set it to a fixed voltage, does it wear the cpu down more or use more electric?
I will try them ram timings, do you know what the rest of the timings should be? I should set 1866 to auto also?

Download CPU-Z, on the SPD tab it will give you the memory's rated timings and voltages.

Then set these in your bios.
You will have to set speeds and timings manually in the bios. But just set the ones listed on the SPD tab.

Okay, I have set according to CPU-z, 9-11-9-27-42-2T @ 1.65v. This hasn't improved anything tho yet, ive done a few benchmarks and ran a few games and everything is playing the same way. Is there anything else you could suggest? Maybe CPU or PCIE spread spectrum or any of my CPU settings?? Many thanks for your time.

Im starting to think I need to ditch AMD on the CPU end and maybe go get an i7 and a half decent motherboard to go with it because I dont understand why the performance is so bad. Playing firefall on full settings my freind gets 60 frames all the time, on ultra mine dips all the way down to 20 frames per second, He has a 2nd gen i7 quad core and a 580! I should be getting the same performance, if not better!

Yes, I am using BIOS 1703.

Have you checked your overclocks for stability?
Prime 95 or OCCT for the cpu.
Furmark or MSI Kombuster for the video card.
Especially the video card check.
If your bios flash in too much for the memory it can cause a lot of slowness.

Yes, I usualy use AIDA64 to stress the PC, But Ive ran all tests on kombuster and all work fine, and I used Prime95 for a while and all is fine there too. Im pretty sure the MOBO Bios is fine, I flash it every time from the Bios and mostly change that every time theres a new Bios update. The GPU Bios has got to be fine, as I flip the switch, I only get a tad less performance as on my 2nd Bios I have the Official Ghz vBios that changes clocks and voltages.

Really scratching my head here, I was certain it has something to do with a setting or something.

HDD`s and SSD are sound, Im sure of it. And Ive reset the bios a few times, it only makes things worse until I reconfigure it all. Thanks for the suggestions tho.
