I am building my first pc, and I am still finding the parts. I am starting with the CPU, because I thought that I shpuld start ther, but I am stuck...

I decided that I am going to buy my CPU second hand, with a warranty, so that I don't end up with useless junk. But I was looking at purchasing the I5, but for the same price as a new I5, I can get a I7, but I can also save money by buying a second hand I5, which will save me a bit money that I might be able to put to the GPU which would've been a R9 380 4GB.

SO WHAT SHOULD I DO??? Cheap I5 or I7 for the proce of a new I5??

PLEASE help

Thanks!!

Frankly, you're probably better off buying a new CPU. Not because old CPUs are risky - quite the opposite. Old CPUs almost always work fine, but they don't depreciate very much in value, so don't generally save much money over a new one.

Old motherboards tend to get more expensive over time, since they die much more frequently than CPUs do. 1155 motherboards (2nd and 3rd gen), for instance, are a lot more expensive than 1150 (4th and 5th) and 1151 (6th) motherboards. 1150 are starting to get more expensive as they go out of production.

If building now, I'd recommend going with new parts unless you find an uncommonly good deal.
