hello everyone!
i 'm planing to build my first pc and i need some help from people with experience in this
i already selected some parts and id like to know what U think its the best

amd build:
cpu:amd fx 8350
cpu cooler cooler master hyper 212 evo
mobo:asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0
16 gb ram
gpu:sapphire radeon hd 7950 vapor-x 3 gb 356
hdd wd caviar black 1 tb for all my stuff
ssd samsung 840 series 90-120 gb for operating system and some games
case: unknown...need help with that too :)


intel build:
cpu intel i5 3570 k
cpu cooler cooler master hyper 212 evo
mobo ashrock z77 extreme 4
16 gb ram
gpu:sapphire radeon hd 7870 ghz ed 2gb 256
hdd wd caviar black 1 tb for all my stuff
ssd samsung 840 series 90-120 gb for operating system and some games
case: unknown...need help with that too :)

so ...what you think is the best? should i add more? should i change anything?

first i was thinking at this option but then i did some research and i found out that the 7950 vapor-x is almost the same as 7970
id apreciate if you would come with some arguments 😀

actually i really need as much ram as my budget can take cuz ill be randering videos like hell+ ill open a minecraft server wich eats ram like crazy

You don't have a power supply for either of your builds (high quality cases don't come with them). I'd recommend something like the Seasonic M12ii 520w. Plenty of power for your setups and it's semi modular.

Otherwise yeah, go for the second one. I don't think it's worth changing a 7950 for a 7970 if it means losing out on the SSD. The SSD just makes the computer all that much nicer to use, and at 1080p the difference between a 7950 and a 7970 is going to be minimal. Drop the 16gb of RAM and go for 8 as well.

Fractal Design R4 is a great case. If you want something more budget, the Antec One is awesome. Corsair C70, another great case. Just find one from Corsair/Fractal/Antec/Cooler Master that you like the looks of and it'll 95% of the time be a very good case.

What's your budget by the way?

The Sapphire 7950 Vapor-X will need to be overclocked to be on par with the 7970 at stock. But then, the 7970 can overclock to pass the 7950.

7950 works very well. It has a better price/performance ratio over then 7970. So if you care about price/performance ratio (best bang for the buck), then 7950. If you care about top performance, the 7970 is better.

Both cards are awesome. You won't be disappointed with either one.

@marshallbradley: the second one has a 7870.

You should have mentioned this in the first post :)
You should check and see what sort of GPU acceleration your program of choice has. If it uses CUDA, then you might want to reconsider your choice of graphics card.

@ksham his first response led me to believe that he was planning on getting the 7950 either way.

Cooler Master GX series is infamous for being really crap (Tier 4 I think, which is pretty substandard). Stick with the M12ii 520, it has better features, is more reliable (you don't want something setting on fire in your computer) and you really don't need 650W, even for over-clocking a 7970.

I feel like the Samsung 840 non-Pro isn't really worth it, and you're better of with a Sandisk Extreme (they have better MLC NAND vs. the TLC NAND of the 840).

I chose the 620W power supply because it's $0.01 more than the 520W one lol. This is the absolute max you could want for 1080p gaming, and it's $110 under budget (assuming you live near a Microcenter) even with a fairly pricey case and 16gb of memory.

well guys,it tooked me a while to think but,in the final i choosed this parts:

cpu:intel core i 5 3570k (i saw that in almost all benchmarks the i5 was allways above the fx from amd)

cpu cooler: cooler master hyper 212 evo

mobo:ashrock z77extreme4(i think its the best mobo for overclocking i5)

gpu:gigabyte radeon hd 7950 windforce(i know that this is a weaker gpu but the 7970 its so expansive. 7950 is about 300$ and 7970 is 400$ in my country) what should i do? should i stick with this or change with the vapor-x from sapphire with is 40$ more expansive but it hassan 970ghz at stock wich is with 70ghz more then the gygabyte-HELP!

ram: Geil Evo Veloce 4x4GB DDR3 1600Mhz CL9

ssd: Kingston SSD V+200 60GB

total money to spend on all thease parts: 1335$

a bit overview my budget but its gonna be ok

by the way im from Romania. there is no newegg,ebay,amazon or microcenter here. im buying all my parts from diferent sites and they ship them to be trough the same courier.

and everythyng is more expansive here
us: al the parts are 1200$ max
românia:same parts are 1450$
diference is about 250$ and this is why i changed șomeri of the parts You guys listed

I've never had any problems with the GeIL set I had. It was actually a very good looking kit (the GeIL Black Dragons). They came with a very long (10 years or lifetime, can't remember which, warranty). They're a bit more well known in Europe than the States I think. If they're the best value you can find, go for them.

MAKE SURE that they are 1.5v kits though, since that's the max voltage you want to be running with current Intel CPUs, and some of GeIL's faster stuff is 1.6-1.65v.
