My buddy who is very knowledgeable in building computers helped me put my first one together. But when we power it up... the BIOS is scrambled. We believe it is the right version 1.008 or something like that. Here are my components:

CASE ROSEWILL|TU-155 BLACK 400W
MB ASUS A8V DELUXE K8T800PRO RET
CPU AMD 64 |3500 ATHLON 64 939P 90%
DDRAM512MB CORSAR64X64 VS512MB400 R X 2
FD 1.44MB|SAMSUG SFD-321B/LBL1 OEM
DVD+/-RW LITEON SOHW-1633S BLK RET
DVD|LITE ON 16X SOHD-167T BLCK RTL
CPU FAN AMD|VENUS12 K8 A1744 RT
VGA MSI | NX6600GT-VTD128 128M RT

I have never built my own pc before, but I know most of the language. If you need more info, please let me know.

When the pc is powered on... I can't even make out what the screen says... I Eventually just pree f10 to get into the bios and it is scrambled there as well. Basically the display is corrupt. Any ideas?

Try your gfx card in another PC, or another card in this one. Otherwise, make sure cables are properely attached/connected (re-seat them).

Mobile XP 2600+ (11X215)
Abit NF7-S v 2.0
Maxtor 60GB ATA 133 7200RPM
512MB Corsair Twinx 3200LL
BBA 9800 Pro
Enermax Noisetaker 420 watts
Win2K sp4

Is there a power connector on the video card you did not or forgot to connect?

This generation of graphics cards is not like the last. The top end ones draw lots of power. They need supplementary power and have additional connectors to have is supplied.

The loving are the daring!

I took out the video card and replaced it with an old one... that old one worked just fine. So I am sending back the video card today and getting a replacement. Thanks guys!
