I would swap the cpu to an intel i3 6100. Not being intel fanboy here but that cpu architecture is pretty old unlike the skylake i3 supports ddr4 which improves gaming performance for low budget pc and overall a better performing cpu than your chosen amd.

Thanks for the quick reply, really appreciate it. I was mainly avoiding dual cores because there was a lot of people saying that games are going to start requiring more cores. And also does everything look compatible? And no bottlenecks?

All compatible. Bottlenecks will appear if gpu is upgraded to a better one.
Also why not change the gtx 960 for a r9 380. Slightly better perfomance than a 960 for the same price.

I don't know a whole lot about what makes one GPU better than another other than Clock speed. Could you explain why it's better?
