So i'm getting a 2080 delivered this Saturday. My PSU is only 460Watts I have a i7 7700 processor and a 1070 Currently. Nvidia suggests a 650Watt PSU.

I have an evga 750Watt being delivered but it wont be here till a week from now. Was wondering if I can just hook up the 2080 to my current build till my new PSU comes or would I risk frying or shorting something out if it pulls too much power?

I'd keep the 1070 hooked up to it but it's already sold, giving it to the guy this Saturday.

Or you could just use less power until the new power supply arrives. A 2080 at 50% max speed\power will likely be as fast as a 1070. Also if it was powering a 1070 it can't be that bad. But yeah i wouldn't want to run it at max TDP.

1. Make sure you have the driver for it downloaded first. And MSI afterburner installed and downloaded.
2. Install the card.
3. Do not start any game or program.
4. Make sure in nvidia's settings that Vsync is enbabled.
5. Start MSI afterburner. In MSI afterburner Turn the Power Limit down to 50%. Click apply. Save it as a profile. Click Apply Overclocking at startup.

So in this case you will be turning down your 2080 to a not yet released laptop version 2080m or just making your own.
