Need help with new computer RAM, and questions for AMD

Hey so im gonna be buying this computer in like 3-4 months, and for my RAM it says “Intel Z170 Platform Desktop Memory”. My PC is AMD based, so will this RAM work with my motherboard and CPU of choice?

Also is there any recommendations for my build? I heard that sometimes with AMD you are going to need a different CPU to update the bios on the motherboard? Anyone know any more information on this? Can you guys tell me if i will be alright with these parts? Also you guys can make recommendations on what to change on this PC. My main forcus is to play warframe, and lots of VRchat mainly. Gonna be using a 32 inch curved gaming moniter too so is all the parts good enough for this? Sorry im asking so many questions, first time building PC.

EDIT: Sorry, do you have a z170 board or are you going to buy the board on the pcpartpicker site (B450) you have listed ?

I think i misunderstood. If your buying the B450 Motherboard on the pcpartpicker then yes, the RAM will suit fine.

Yup B450! Do you know if this is the best of best fit for my build? If your not busy or if its not to much, can you look around on my build and see if all my parts are good, or if there are any parts i should switch, and do you know about the motherboard BIOS being up to date? Plan on buying all the parts in like 3-5 months.

If your going to be buying in 3-5 months mate i would hold off on any commitment and just continue looking around. 3-5 months is a long time in technology and pricing and tech changes between now and then could be significant. When the time comes for you to buy then post here and we can give immediate feedback with the latest information bud :)

For the B450, the Asus support site says that cpu (Ryzen 5 2600) is supported from bios 0207 (no idea what the boards are shipping with at the moment)

When you''re buying, let the retailer know you only want to buy the board from them if they can ensure it has a bios at least as recent as that - or, if you buy both the cpu and mobo from the one vendor, they may be happy to make sure the board has a bios to support the cpu.

Back around February when the second generation Ryzen CPU's were released, the motherboards that were available didn't have a compatible BIOS. And installing one of the new CPU's resulted in a system that would not boot up. It required an AMD "boot kit". That entailed a installing a first generation Ryzen CPU, then updating the BIOS, and then installing the second generation processor again.

Since then there have been many BIOS updates.

The B-450 is a newer motherboard so it should be OK. But I would suggest updating the BIOS right after installing it.

if you are getting a Ryzen 2xxx chip and an AM4 4xx motherboard in theory it should be "good to go" without any bootkit required.
I believe early on when 4xx and 2xxx launched there were "teething" issues which should have pretty much been fully resolved by now.

IMO more mobo makers should put the drivers on a USB stick set to "bootable" format for windows xp and up (FAT32 based) so at least end user can be assured a quick boot from the usb when installing into a new build and they get all the required chipset drivers (no bloatware please) seems they all want to go the "digital download everything route" and as of yet the only motherboard maker I am aware of that has went the USB stick route has been EVGA...

heck even MSFT with Win 10 and "official" just paid $100+ for their USB stick often enough they use the cruddiest lowest cost USB they can find which has caused all kinds of problems that could have been easily avoided "if they cared" about their product.

someone else stated that you could always check with place you are buying the board from that it WILL work with the cpu you have selected "out of the box" but I am not 100% sure they are able (many would not know how to double check) what BIOS is on the board from a default standpoint, I do not think there is any indication on the "sticker" attached to the box it ships in (I very well could be wrong)

most if not all B450 should work "perfectly fine" with Ryzen 1xxx as well as 2xxx "out of the box" as B450 is the "newest" for the AM4 second generation boards so should require very little to get it working...a BIOS and Agesa update after the fact would not hurt things (in theory) but should not require it nearly as much as say trying to use a 2xxx in a AM4 3xx based motherboard.

If the CPU is not compatible with the bios then a bootable usb is not going to work - the mobo, in the scenario under consideration, effectively has no CPU. That''s the problem the op is worried about - a bios compatible CPU (or new bios chipset) is required to flash a new bios to the chipset.

I just upgraded on oct 4 to the asus rog strix x470 f gaming / 2600x /g.skill flare x 3200 16gb 2x8
I had no problems on boot up and runs great set mem on docp to 3200. Also set to 3266 with no voltage increase.
Keep mind open on final build as the prices will change just as 1 responder said.
The rtx 2080 just came out and the prices on other cards are dropping that could help get you a better board and ram.
If you live near a city that has a Micro Center in it you can save 30 bucks on cpu & mobo and they price match online retailers.
