Need help with new GPU

hey guys

im about to buy a new gpu but im not sure if i need to upgrade my RAM. currently i've got 3gb ddr2 ram and the nvidia 8500 gt. my question is if I upgrade to a gtx 460 or an hd6850 will I need to upgrade to ddr3 ram? thanks for the help!

Post entire Specs, including PSU and monitor resolution.

No, the type of system ram is independent from the vram on the GPU. The cards will work fine with DDR2 ram.
