I need some help. I just reinstalled my pc and for some reason it's showing that i have about 40 GBs worth of used space already and I haven't even installed anything yet. I highlighted everything in my computer and it's only showing about 12Gb worth. Is that right? I mean where are they getting the other 28GB from and why can I not see it?

Possibly something like WinDirStat will help visualize where that space is.
Is it a laptop or branded desktop? Those now come with hidden repair or restore partitions. Instead of giving people their own Windows 7 or 8 disk, they simply have a repair partition already on your HD, so you can't lose it. The only thing is if your HD fails, you must have made the back-up rescue disks, ( most people don't! ) or else you have to get it from the manufacturer. There are many variations on this method. What exactly do you have?

I have a desktop pc and it is an 840pro SSD

I have already deleted the windows.old folder. There wasn't anything when i showed hidden files.

Have you even tried Disk Manager in Windows? It shows the 100 MB ( hidden ) boot partition on my 128GB Samsung. Perhaps nothing is showing because some part of it was inadvertantly not formatted. Disk Manager will show if some part is not formatted. Or is there any chance that when you set up your 840Pro in the SSD Magician software that you specified for higher than normal over-provisioning?
