Hello, this is another "what should I upgrade next" thread, but I am really stuck and changing my mind every day, I need someone who better understands this things to help me, my current specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600

GPU: GTX 1660 ti

RAM: 12GB 2666 mhz DDR4 (oc to 2933)

MOBO: msi b450-a pro

I am not sure if it would be better to go with the new cpu (I am watching ryzen 7 3700x), or gpu (like rtx 2060 super or rx 5700) or should I maybe go for better ram? Or maybe wait some time to see what is coming next year? thanks

Solution
I have 24 inch 75hz full hd monitor, btw what do you mean by unbalanced ram? will 16 gb work better?
To have 12GB you either have three 4GB DIMMs or an 8GB and a 4GB. Either way you don't dual channel memory. That mismatch causes performance degradation. Two matched (sold as a set) 8GB DIMMs will provide the optimum performance. As was said, you can also get faster clock speed DIMMs than what you have.

Thanks, makes sense

I am happy with 1080p, I was thinking of going 144 hz but not before getting better gpu, with gtx 1660 ti I often don't hit 144 fps in games, not even on medium settings. I think maybe 2060 super will be enough for 1080p for few more years, thinking about getting that or rx 5700

i would recommend rx 5700 because amd drivers for gpus gets you better fps and it is more better dx 12 games but if you are interested in shadowplay and broadcasting stuff of nvidia's go for it

I am not interested in broadcasting and such, how is rx 5700 compared to rtx 2060 when it comes to temperatures and loudness?

I would first buy 2*8gb ram @3000/3200 hz. Then I would buy a new monitor probably 1440p @75hz or 1080p @120hz. Your CPU and GPU are fine, no need to upgrade unless you want to play vr games.

he said he wants to play on 1080p but i think he wants to get the full 144 fps cuz 1660 ti can't get below 100 fps (except on esports titles) in a game like bf v but i agree with you about the ram

Thanks everyone, so I will get 2x8GB ram 3200mhz in few days, then gpu in a month or so, I will have some time to consider if I want new monitor depending on games I play and how much fps I am getting.
