Looking for help from fellow PC builders. I'm finally upgrading from my old system, coming from a FX6350 to an i5 8400. I'll still be using some old parts: My gtx 970 strix and a WD black 2TB drive. My old system crashes while gaming and it makes this loud buzzing, jarring noise. Sometimes it'll work if I move my mouse, but stays completely frozen most of the time. Could it be that my graphics card is dying, or the hard drive? I don't want to move those parts to my new build, if they are broken.

What you describe could be a fan but you would need to look which one, just open the pc and check with your ears, might want to roll up a paper into a tube and see if that helps.Remember that the psu has a fan as well.
I would just try the parts in the new system and see if the sound returns.
