Need help with PC motherboard

Hello everyone I had a friend introduce this build to me and I really liked it. The only thing I have in this build that isn't on it is a processor. I currently have the i7-4790k and I was curious if it would work with the motherboard from this build http://pcpartpicker.com/list/BBV9NN
I am extremely nervous about all of this because I have never built a computer(currently using a stock alienware pc.) Any help is appreciated.

If it doesn't work or any other pieces do not work can you recommend something that will. I am extremely bad with these things and someone told me that the cpu and the ram do not match up and I already bought everything. I would prefer and motherboard that could work with the build.

No the 4790K is 1150 the Z170A is 1151.

Theyre not compatible with each other. You need a socket 1151 CPU for the MSI

Would it be smarter to buy a different motherboard or buy another cpu. I feel like the CPU is expensive to replace considering I got one that's really high end. Also does the ram work with this motherboard? If it does I guess I can shell out a couple hundred for a great cpu and just sell my other computer as a whole.

The ram thats listed on the site will work with the MSI.

If the mobo you have now doesnt support DDR4 then no it wont support the mobo you have now

As long as the ram that I have listed works with the msi motherboard listed I will buy a CPU instead.

Yup that CPU will work with the MSI mobo.

Just checked the MSI site. Luckily the first BIOS supports that CPU you listed. So it should work once you install it

Supports the 6700k? If so awesome I will purchase right now! Sucks the 4790k went to waste pretty much. Thanks a lot for your help.

Yup supports the 6700k. Once its going the first thing I would do is update the BIOS. No probs
