Hi all,

I am planning on getting a gaming PC and am looking for the parts that are available here (Indonesia). I'm completely new to this so I don't have much knowledge about the specs I need to be looking at and aiming for. I went to the only Gaming PC shop that I know of where I live and got a list of PC's that they prebuild for gaming purposes.

My question is, how will the following PC perform for gaming?

AMD A10-7850K Kaveri 12 Core 3.7GHz FM2
or
Intel Core i5-4460 Haswell Quad-Core 3.2GHZ

Gigabyte Motherboard G1 Sniper A88X (USB3, 8CH Audio, Gigabit LAN)

VGA Nvidia GT730, 128Bit DDR3 2GB

Memory DDR3 4GB PC12800 (Visipro/Kingston)

HDD Seagate/Western Digital 500GB 7200rpm

DVDR/W LG

Standard PC Case (ATX, 450w standard PSU

LED LG 20" HD Ready Monitor

The price for this is listed at $700 (USD)

How does this price compare to where you guys are from and how well will this perform for gaming? My aim is to have a computer that plays well now and that won't become obsolete too fast.

Thanks to everyone in advance for your help :)

Edit:

Maybe I should mention that I currently have a Macbook Pro 2012 13" with 2.5GHz Intel Core i5, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024MB, 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.

I use this for work but it doesn't run very well for gaming. It heats up loads and I need to set all the graphic options to low for it to perform well. I'm looking to get a PC that will run considerably better than this... How would the above build stack against this?

What about this?

Thanks for your answer HH, I appreciate the help.

Would this run better than the one I listed in the OP? I'm not sure how picky i can be with particular parts as here in Bali the selection is very slim. I know that they have the parts I mentioned in stock though.

How would the machine I listed perform do you think? Maybe comparing it to my macbook pro so I can get a good idea.

The GT730 is not for gaming.
Go back and ask them for a better build, perhaps those that contain GTX960 / 970 or R9 285 / 290.
If you can order online & build it yourself, that's even better, it gives you more flexibility.
Have a look at the parts -HH- mentioned, look for something similar even if you don't find the exact same parts.

Thanks G-STAR01, I've had a look at getting the parts shipped to me but the build mentioned by HH came up to a total of USD1570 because of the international shipping fees and import duties. That's quite a noticeable bump in cost.

The shop I went to have their "High End Gaming PC" listed as"

Intel Core i7-4790 Haswell Quad-Core 3.6GHz

Gigabyte Motherboard z97X Gaming 3 (7.1 HD Audio, Intel Gigabit LAN)

VGA Nvidia GTX960 256Bit GDDR5 2GB

Memory Kingston/Gskill DDR3 16GB (8GB x 2pc) Dual Channel PC 1600

HDD Seagate/Western Digital 1TB + SSD 120Gb

DVDR/W LG

Gaming Case (ATX, USB 3.0 + HD Audio Front Panel)

500w pure power PSU(80+)

LED LG 22" Full HD

Speaker Genius HF150

Stavolt Servomotor 1000VA

Price: USD1483

Does this seem like a good deal? How "High End" is this Gaming PC in reality?

Thank you so much for you're help with this guys.

^ that's a high end cpu/motherboard with a mid range GPU - its also overpriced.

For a decent but not over the top general gaming system you want to be looking at that build you posted first

Ie.
Intel Core i5-4460 Haswell Quad-Core 3.2GHZ

Gigabyte Motherboard G1 Sniper A88X (USB3, 8CH Audio, Gigabit LAN)

VGA Nvidia GT730, 128Bit DDR3 2GB

Memory DDR3 4GB PC12800 (Visipro/Kingston)

HDD Seagate/Western Digital 500GB 7200rpm

DVDR/W LG

Standard PC Case (ATX, 450w standard PSU

LED LG 20" HD Ready Monitor

But get the memory upped to 8gb instead of 4gb
Get the graphics upgraded to the gtx 960.

Hi madmatt30, thanks for your reply.

Last 2 questions:

- The build you mention here (my original build + upgrade to RAM and GPU) would perform well for the foreseeable future?

- Would this PC handle high settings on new games like the Witcher 3?

I really need to make sure I'm getting the right thing before I go all in... :)

It depends on your budget my friend ,the i5 4460 with 8gb ram on a h97 board is the basis build for gaming probably owned by at least 30% of the members here.the gtx 960 is a midrange card - with the witcher 3 you would be looking between medium-high to maintain 60fps.
For a significantly more powerful GPU youd need to be looking at a gtx 970 or an amd r9 290.

I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions. I'm not very familiar with forum etiquette so please let me know if I need to stop.

The question your response has brought up is whether a GTX 970/R9 290 built into the system you suggested before instead of the GTX 960 would make the PC a high end Gaming PC? Would the difference be significant?

Thanks so much, I think I'm going to go to that shop and see if they can make that build for me.

Absolute last question. All these GPUs you mentioned (including the GTX 970) as well as all other parts will fit nicely on the motherboard on offer (Gigabyte Motherboard G1 Sniper A88X (USB3, 8CH Audio, Gigabit LAN))

I may have to order the GPU from abroad and get the shop to build the PC without a GPU and install it later.

Thanks so much for everything guys.

If you go with the initial build you stated and then add a gtx 970 or R9 290, you also need to look at getting a better PSU, especially with the R9.
The PSU in that build is likely Tier 5 junk anyways.
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

You should check to see how much a GTX970/R9 290 and a 600W+ Tier 3/2 PSU costs.

edit:
Gigabyte G1 Sniper A88X is an AMD board.
If you're getting the i5 there will be a different board that they might not have mentioned to you.

^ that above - the psu from the second build - pure power 500w (if its a bequiet model) is fairly decent - I have an inkling it will probably be a thermaltake though which while not great will still be better than an unbranded model.

Look for a mid budget h97 motherboard for the intel chip.
